The New York Auto Show is next week, and the all-new 2nd-gen 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback is set for its debut there. It’s more stylish and futuristic than its predecessor, and any tech personnel will want to tell you all about it! The car also brings more trim and options than the retired Scion brand models.
The new Corolla Hatchback is one of the first models of the brand’s new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) C chassis. Quite similar to Toyota Auris, the latest Hatchback is longer, lower, and wider than the previous model. The svelte J-shaped LED headlamps and the restyled wheels make it more aggressive and sophisticated.
It packs Toyota’s new Dynamic Force four-cylinder engine and 2.0-liter displacement. The brand claims heightened enhancements in compactness, lightweight, and quietness as compared to its predecessor.
Six-speed manual transmission and Dynamic Shifts with 10 stimulating speeds, dedicated sports mode, and shift paddles; make up for the base of performance! The K120 transmission features a launch gear in the passenger car-CVT, a first in the world! Toyota says that this will improve launch immediacy and smoothness.
In the cabin, the 8-inch infotainment touchscreen is Toyota’s Entune v3.0-based and supports Apple CarPlay. Among other features, the new Hatchback gets an 800-watt JBL audio system with Clari-fi, a processing tech for restoring some sonic luster during file compression of digital sound.
Packing advanced driver assists safety systems, it is to rival the likes of Chevrolet Cruze, Volkswagen Golf, Honda Civic, Mazda3, and Hyundai Elantra. Additionally, Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 brings standard trims, with features that include auto emergency brake with pedestrian detection, intelligent cruise control, auto high beams, lane-keep and -departure controls, Lane Tracing Assistant and Blind-spot Monitor.
Sales are to start by this summer for Corolla Hatchback. Just over $20,000 would be the price range that is to be revealed right before the rollout to dealers.
