In the early 2020s, the South Korean tech giant Samsung released the fan version of the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE in both 4G and 5G variants. The smartphone was equipped with Exynos 990 4G and Snapdragon 865 5G chipset, respectively.
Due to the model’s popularity, the company, this year, is set to release the second version in the FE series – the Galaxy S21 FE. But, this time, it will come only in the 5G variants. The smartphone is to be powered by Snapdragon 888 5G chipset.
Some reports confirm that the company is also planning to release the 4G variant of the Galaxy S21 FE phone, which is currently under development. While the 5G variant has the model number SM-G990B, a leak from Galaxy Club indicates an upcoming model known as SM-G990B2, which will have its firmware. While S21 FE 5G only supported Bluetooth 5.0, this model received a Bluetooth SIG certification to support Bluetooth 5.2.
Listings on multiple stores in Belgium and Netherlands and Scandinavian online stores claimed that the Snapdragon 720G chipset would power the 4G variant. Samsung had previously used this chipset in the Galaxy A52, which is much lower end considering the Snapdragon 888 of the S21 FE 5G variant. This suggests that the 4G variant of Galaxy S21 FE is expected to be cheaper.
Sources have also relieved that this shall be the last phone under the FE series, and Samsung shall no longer release the FE fan version in the future.
