On Tuesday Mercedes-Benz EQV electric van took the wraps off the world’s first fully-electric premium MPV.
The German luxury marque revealed the EQV online ahead of its global debut at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show next month that packs impressive driving abilities, high functionality, and aesthetic design as the first fully-electric premium MPV.
It’s mostly a battery-electric version of the standard V-Class, and the company plans to build it in Spain alongside its fossil-fuel-sipping cousin. It highlights a range of 405 kilometers high-voltage battery from 10 to 80 percent in less than an hour. The drivers will have 201 horsepower at their disposal, and the 90-kWh lithium-ion battery will provide an estimated range of 250 miles.
As per the design, the EQV features a black “radiator grille” with a chrome strip and a V-class rear. Under the hood, it has an electric powertrain situated at the front of the EQV made up of an electric motor, cooling systems, and a fixed-gear transmission. However, it seems identical to the concept from earlier this year.
The EQV does not have an engine start-stop button but instead a traditional key that comes as a surprise on an all-electric vehicle. It also accommodates up to seven or eight passengers depending on the seat configuration.
At the center of the dash, it has a 10-inch display with the latest MBUX infotainment system. The Mercedes-Benz EQV electric premium van will be available to the public for the first time at this year’s IAA.
