Today Nikon released the N-Log 3D LUT for Z6 and Z7. The official N-Log 3D LUT is available on the Nikon website to download for free. The release of the LUT means that the Z6 and the Z7 micro single phase which was announced on the CES 2019 will be out soon.
Nikon LUT is compatible with video editing software Premiere or ATOMOS Ninja V 4K HDR recording recorder. Nikon obviously has tested the 3D LUT before it came out in the market, and so far the new 3D LUT had been approved in Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Final Cut Pro X, and DaVinci Resolve.
LUTS take specific RGB values from the source image and modify them to new RGB value by changing and/or enhancing hue, saturation and brightness values of the source image. LUT can obviously be used scientifically, but it also gives photographers the freedom to get creative with it and create specific “looks” on the source image.
Apart from releasing the N-Log 3D LUT, Nikon also announced that the external recording of the RAW video will also be available. However, unlike the 3D LUT which is free of cost, users can get the ProResIs RAW update for a price only. To activate the proResIs RAW functionality the Nikon camera will have to be brought to a Nikon service point where the feature could be implemented for a price.

Even though Nikon has specifically mentioned that in order to get the proResIs RAW update, the camera has to be brought into a Nikon service point, surprisingly, Nikon has not announced when the update will be available.
