Facebook has started to promote its new Avatar feature in its news feed. The feature has already been available in Australia since June 2019. However, the rest of the world still waits for it. Is it worth the wait? Only time will tell.
Facebook Avatar feature as the name suggests will give the user a cartoon version of himself or herself. Undoubtedly this would be a more fun version of one’s persona. Users can create these customized digital characters from a collection of gender-neutral animated figures. Facebook provides 18 traits and clothing items to play around it.
The characters can be used in Messenger Chats and News Feed Comments. It can also serve as a display picture for someone who prefers to remain anonymous on Facebook. Facebook Avatar at present is not designed to resemble the actual person. It can’t be created after detecting a picture of a person.
It can’t be integrated with the keyboard yet although this may be possible in the future.
According to the latest reports, Facebook has also been testing a “Mood” creation mode for Stories. We don’t have much information about this at the moment. As far as the first look of it there is an added option of “Mood” while creating a Facebook story. For example, you could be happy or sad.
Once you select the “Mood” option Facebook asks you How do you feel. You have several options to choose your answer from. There is Trending, Hump day, Happy, Love, Lol and many more. Each option has associated multiple images and gifs with it to accurately capture your mood. One can tap the image to change the style of the “Mood“.
Facebook has been working hard behind the scenes to introduce these new features. I am pretty sure that these features once out will capture the popular imagination swiftly.
