Today, Kaspersky is going to withdraw its antitrust complaint against Microsoft. Microsoft agreed to reflect changes in the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. These changes will serve Kaspersky in providing alerts and notifications for renewing Windows 10 antivirus definitions.
Windows 10 Antivirus
June 2017 saw Kaspersky file the complaint stating that Microsoft disabled antivirus software during Windows 10 upgrades. In fact, Kaspersky claimed that Microsoft was dominant in promoting its own Windows defender software.
Microsoft revealed later the same month that Windows 10 asks users to install antivirus from a third party after updating. At the same time, the company said that the old version gets disabled in case it’s not compatible.
Presently, Microsoft said that the company would be working closely with antivirus vendors for compatibility reviews before each feature is available for update. Microsoft is also going to collaborate with these vendors for better visibility on the release schedules of Windows 10 updates.
Windows 10 Changes
The collaboration means that Windows 10 Fall Creators Update now has a major change. It will be a glimpse of how Windows 10 antivirus alerts and notifications get played for the users. Microsoft, in fact, is actually changing the process of how Windows 10 would notify users regarding the expiration of antivirus.
These are the changes that convinced Kaspersky to withdraw the complaint. According to one of its spokespersons, “the company is satisfied with the proposed approach by Microsoft.” They are head-on in withdrawing the filings to the Federal Cartel Office of Germany and the European Commission.
Rob Lefferts, the director of program management for Windows enterprise and security, said that Microsoft is pleased with Kaspersky’s withdrawal and further collaboration. The entire process is certainly going to enhance the user experience when it comes to Windows 10 antivirus aspects.
