Today Sony has declared to expand its 360 Reality Audio services to include video streaming capabilities and new tools for content creation. The platform uses spatial sound technologies.
This 360 Reality Audio platform was introduced in 2019 and has enabled the artists and creators to make music with sound sources like vocals, chorus and instruments around the head in a virtual sound field.
In 360 Reality Audio, the listeners can currently access around 4,000 songs sung by artists like Alicia Keys, Lil Nas X, Megan Thee Stallion, Noah Cyrus, Zara Larsson, and more. According to Sony, these songs are available across services like Tidal and Deezer.
The format goes with almost all regular headphones or compatible speakers, for example, Amazon’s Echo Studio. Sony says that its work with record labels and service providers for starting streaming videos will start later this year.
The first exhibition of this new arrangement will be an exclusive live performance on next Monday by the Sony Music Entertainment artist Zara Larsson.
Viewers can watch this live through Artist Connection mobile app from Sony on January 11 at 5:00 PM EST. This new effort from Sony will contribute to expanding the 360 Reality Audio ecosystem.
In this spring, Sony will be also be releasing two new 360 Reality Audio-compatible speakers, namely, SRS-RA5000 and SRS-RA3000. However, much of the details have not been reported yet, except support for Amazon’s Alexa and the Google Assistant.
Along with these, Sony and Virtual Sonics, Inc. has come up with a new content creation software, namely, the 360 Reality Audio Creative Suite, which will help musicians and creators create 360 Reality Audio content easily.
This will be released at the end of this month by Virtual Sonics, Inc., through its subsidiary Audio Futures, Inc. The 360 Reality Audio Creative Suite plugin software works with DAW (digital audio workstation). For this, the distribution will be done by The Orchard.
