Google refrained from providing any services to Huawei and Honor due to the ban of the Chinese brands in the USA during the reign of the former American president. However, a recent report suggests that Google services could return to the Honor mobiles in April 2021.
Reports have it that Honor will soon introduce a new line of smartphones featuring the familiar Google services.
Back in 2019, as Huawei was announced to be banned from USA, as a subsidiary brand of the Chinese giant, Honor was also affected at that time. In addition to that, Huawei’s temporary license for resuming updates also expired in August 2020.
As a result, Google also stopped providing any further updates for Huawei and Honor smartphones. This also meant that Huawei wouldn’t have access to any of Google’s data, and the users won’t be able to download apps through the Play Store anymore.
To overcome the situation, Huawei came up with its very own services called ‘App Gallery’. However, the App Gallery doesn’t have a huge number of apps available like that of the Play Store.
There seems to be a lack of efficient apps despite Huawei’s continuous efforts when it comes to online banking and other monetary services.
If the new Honor smartphones can get back the Google services again, it will be a huge relief for the users. Rumors also have it that the new line of smartphones will not include the App Gallery as Google Play Store will function.
However, both Huawei and Google are yet to confirm the news. Regardless, the continuous speculations are indicating that the rumors might become a reality very soon.
