Redmi has been the most popular name and the leading brand in the smartphone market for quite some time. They also introduced their G gaming laptops to the world a while ago. Now, this Chinese giant is focusing on developing its own range of gaming phones with the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC chipset.
Redmi already has a subsidiary named ‘Black Shark’ which solely focuses on gaming smartphones. Although many Redmi smartphones are capable of supporting various gaming features, it does not has any specific phone completely dedicated to gaming.
However, recent rumors and leaks indicate that Redmi is indeed preparing to launch their very first gaming mobile. On April 13, the official Redmi account on Weibo revealed that they are entering into the gaming industry for the first time. The official reports also mentioned that the first gaming phone will be released at the end of April 2021. This new Redmi gaming phone is described as “main game machine, main flagship + hard-core game function.”
As per the reports, with the model number M2104K10C, the smartphone is codenamed ‘Ares’ and has already cleared China’s TENAA and 3C certification platforms. It could have a flat OLED screen as its display along with the side fingerprint scanner and will be accompanied by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC chipset. It will also have eSports design elements, various game-oriented details, and functions and will also be compatible with mainstream games.
Other leaks suggest that the Redmi gaming phone will be equipped with a 5000mAh battery with 65W fast charging support. However, Redmi has not yet revealed any official specifications of the upcoming gaming phone. It did announce that it has partnered with Call Of Duty Mobile for the phone launch.
As per the rumors, the Redmi gaming smartphone was recently spotted in the country’s IMEI database and the listings suggest that the smartphone could launch under the Poco also. However, these are all rumors and leaks. Redmi has not yet confirmed or claimed any of them being true. We still have to wait for any official confirmation from the brand’s end. After the launch of Redmi’s gaming smartphone in April, it would be interesting to see how it competes with the other big competitors like Poco, Realme, and more.
