Microsoft has recently added a new Outlook plug-in for its Microsoft Edge browser. The new add-on will let users send and receive emails, manage their calendar, tasks, and more without opening a new tab; for example, a user with an Outlook account can view any contact’s phone number without having to switch tabs or apps. The new add-on can be downloaded for free from Microsoft. It is basically a PWA application; users can also click to open a separate window.
Microsoft Outlook add-on features include Access work or personal accounts, read, send, and managing email and get new email notifications, create events, view upcoming ones, and join online meetings, create, track, and manage tasks, manage contacts, and much more. The current preview version will allow the users to open email directly in the floating window to manage their email. This direct access will allow the users to manage emails directly in the floating window.
Microsoft has officially introduced the new Microsoft Edge plug-in. This will certainly make it easier to access emails directly bringing down the total time involved to do so. Moreover, since more and more people are working from home, Microsoft too was looking for ways to make it easier for its users. This is just one of the steps taken to integrate office usage better. It should be mentioned that this update is available to all with access to Microsoft Edge and Outlook accounts.
Previously, for checking emails, the users had to make use of the web interface. Compared to that the Outlook plug-in has more advantages but not limited to reading important emails, checking the calendar, adding tasks based on what users read on the web, quickly finding the phone number of a contact, quoting the information on the web pages when composing emails.
