Xiaomi just dived into international limelight with its announcement of Mi5 at MWC 2016 in Barcelona today. This is the first and perhaps the better global stage for the company to expand its presence where the global brand like Samsung and LG have used to launch their flagship products.
Xiaomi unveils ceramic body slim metal Mi5 smartphone
The Xiaomi Mi 5 comes with a trendy curved design on the back much like the Xiaomi Mi Note which is popular amongst its fans. The smartphone has 3D glass ceramic body with slim metal frame and 5.15 inch full HD (1920 x 1080p) display. On the front of the device it has a home button which comes with the fingerprint sensor technology.
The Mi 5 is bit slimmer than Mi Note and elegant body of the device measures 69.20 x 144.55 x 7.25mm. It is also surprisingly light – weighs only 129g with a 3D glass back. The 5.1in (13in)-screened Mi5, at 6.95mm (0.27in) and 129g (0.28lb), was thinner and lighter than Apple’s iPhone 6S and Samsung’s Galaxy S7.
It features the latest Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm which is 100 percent faster than Snapdragon 810. The device comes with two variants – 32GB and 64GB internal storage capacity powered by 4GB of RAM. The memory capacity of the device can be expanded up to 128GB via a micoSD card. As rumored earlier the Mi5 comes 4GB LPDDR4 RAM that gives 200% better performance than its predecessor and consumes 50% less power. The runs on the latest MIUI based on Android M operating system giving faster user experience and better look and feel.
Mi5 by Xioami is the first device to get 4-axis Optical Image Stabilization, and has16MP rear camera does a superb work in getting stable photos and videos. Another new feature added onto the Mi5 is DTI (Deep Trench Isolation) enabled with Phase Detection Auto-Focus technology that prevents light leaks and helps users to take bright pictures. On the other hand, the smartphone sports with a 2-micron large pixel 4MP front camera for the selfie lovers.
On the network connectivity part, Mi5 supports 4G+ VoLTE advanced dual micro SIM and allows uses up-to 600 Mbps download speeds. This advanced features give users faster call connection and allows high-definition and better voice and video call which provides a more natural sound while resulting in lower dropped-call rates.
Mi5 is powered by a 3000 mAh Li-Po battery, and it comes with Quick Charge 3.0 support. With only 10-minute charge users can play upto 2.6 hours of video, 4.4 hours on GPS navigation and 7.5 hours of reading on 4G network.
The device comes in three color variants – Black, White and Gold color and will be available in China from 1st March.
