As part of CES 2022, Google has announced that the company will make improvements to Android, which is scheduled to launch in 2022.
Notably, Google launched the Android 12 in October 2021, but that was not the end. As is the case with any OS, Google, too, continued to improve the OS. One area that the tech giant has focused on is working with other devices. According to a report published by Deloitte, the average home in the US will have 11 to 25 connected devices in 2019. Google certainly wants to take advantage of the situation, and as such, the company wants to improve the Android experience.
Google fast pair
Google is fast improving in the area of the fast pair feature, which is concerned with speeding up and simplifying the process of pairing an Android phone with Bluetooth devices. Moreover, Google is currently working on adding support for additional devices such as TVs and smart home products.
“If you turn on Fast Pair-enabled headphones within a few weeks, your Chromebook will automatically detect it and pair it with one click, so you can focus on your studies and work wherever you are,” – Erik Kay, the Vice President of Multi-Device Experience.
“If you get a new Chromebook later this year, you can use your Android smartphone to quickly set it up and quickly access all your stored information, including your Google login and Wi-Fi password.”
Google adopts Ultra-Wideband technology
For improving the support for vehicle integration, Google is adopting the use of Ultra-Wideband technology using which the users can unlock a vehicle paired with their phones without having to physically hold the phone. The Phone Hub created by Google has also been improved. Now it allows Chromebooks to access the phone chat app without having to reinstall the phone chap app on the Chromebook. The tech giant is also developing products for other platforms as well.
Some of the new features added by Google, such as Fast Pair, will begin rolling out in the next few weeks whereas the other features will be available throughout the year.
