Today, the American multinational corporation Qualcomm has announced that it has worked with ZTE and Xiaomi to create the world’s first independent networking 5G+5G Dual SIM Dual Access (DSDA) live network call and data connection using a Xiaomi demo mobile phone equipped with a Snapdragon 5G modem and radiofrequency system and concurrent connections to ZTE network equipment.
Reports revealed that the 5G mobile phones could connect to multiple networks to the greatest extent possible thanks to the Snapdragon 5G modem and radiofrequency system, allowing them to be compatible with numerous dual-network configurations at the same time.
The 5G mmWave standard is an important part of the 5G worldwide standard. It enables mobile operators to use vast spectrum resources in bands above 24 GHz to deliver massive network capacity and extreme multi-Gigabit performance – up to 10 Gbps with the Snapdragon X65 – in industrial, enterprise, and consumer scenarios, which is critical to help operators meet everyday data demands.
According to reports, Qualcomm will collaborate with partners to demonstrate this product’s technological innovation at the upcoming 2022 MWC Qualcomm booth, this year.
The American multinational corporation also unveiled the world’s first demonstration of a smartphone using new iSIM technology in January, which allows a SIM card’s functionality to be integrated into the device’s main processor.
iSIM is GSMA-compliant, allowing for more memory, better speed, and better system integration. With the introduction of iSIM cards, a separate chip is no longer necessary, eliminating the proprietary area assigned for SIM services, which is now embedded directly in the device’s application processor.
Recall that last year, Qualcomm and ZTE announced the successfully demonstrated features required in anticipation of 5G mmWave rollouts in China to fulfill the testing goals of the IMT-2020 (5G) promotion group for 200MHz carrier bandwidth over 5G mmWave.
Then, the Vice Chairman of the Council and Secretary-General, China Communications Standards Association (CCSA), Wen Ku, noted that: “China has been pushing ahead with 5G development on a stable track, and mmWave will be a key focus of 5G in the future.”
“For the next step of 5G, we should fully leverage the advantages of 5G mmWave technology to unlock higher benefits and empower a digital, intelligent society. CCSA will support and advance the development of mmWave technology for enhanced 5G network experiences in China.” he added.
In his own reactions Tang Xue, the Vice General Manager of RAN Product, ZTE Corporation, said:
“With broader 5G opportunities enabled by mmWave, we will join hands with partners to continuously drive mmWave development, create ultimate experiences and usher in a wonderful 5G era.”
