Reports have revealed today that the American electric vehicle giant Tesla is about to release a cheaper Model Y with bigger batteries soon.

According to Electrek, the electric vehicle giant has used the 4680 battery to create a new Standard Range AWD level with a range of 450 kilometers and a 0-60MPH time of 5 seconds. It has allowed its employees to buy it for $59,990 (3,000 less than Long Range AWD) for the Model Y.

Likewise, a center hand rest with magnetic attraction, a shelf, and other new features have been added to this new Model Y manufactured at their Texas plant.

Under the doubling of volume, the 4680 battery can boost capacity by up to 5 times, allowing Tesla to minimize the number of batteries used while still improving the car’s battery life.

In addition, the automobile industry implemented a structural battery pack that should reduce complexity and weight, further improving efficiency in the new Model Y.

Recall that earlier this month, TechGenzy reported that the electric vehicle giant unveiled a new factory, Gigafactory in Austin, designated to mark the beginning of production of Tesla’s new Model Y, Model 3, Tesla Semi, and iconic Cybertruck and produce up to 500,000 electric vehicles annually.

The Texas Gigafactory is the world’s largest electric vehicle factory and the first electric vehicle manufactured by the Model Y car.

During the launch of the Gigafactory, Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, noted that the Model Y car’s glass could withstand bullets, and an iron ball was used for trials on the spot, but the car’s glass fractured on the spot following the contact, which was embarrassing.

With high ratings in all crashworthiness and front crash prevention categories, the Model Y got the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ honor. It offers the greatest flexibility, as it can transport seven passengers and their luggage.

Each seat in the second row folds flat individually, allowing for versatile storage of skis, furniture, baggage, and other items. The liftgate opens to reveal a low trunk floor, making loading and unloading a breeze.
