Last month, we reported that the American social messaging service, WhatsApp, rolled out an exciting feature that allows group admins to delete any message on the app. The feature was marked WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.18.0.70 and was released for some lucky WhatsApp iOS Beta users, with some having the feature on the previous beta.
However, as part of its commitment to ensuring user convenience by introducing user-friendly features to improve their experience, the social messaging service is pleased to announce today that it is rolling out a new feature that allows group admins to delete status updates within the chat list.
Admin Delete and Status Update Features
According to WaBetaInfo, the new feature is marked WhatsApp beta for iOS 2.22.19.17 as a compatible update and is available for all beta users. Recall that the social messaging service initially rolled out a similar feature on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.17.12 update, but was limited to certain beta testers, however with this new update more group admins are finally able to use the feature.
Therefore, to check if the feature is enabled for your account, simply attempt to delete a message posted by another user within a group where you are an admin. If “delete for everyone” appears, it means the feature is finally available for your account. Meanwhile, a test for users of stable versions of the app is now accessible, meaning group admins on non-beta versions might also be able to delete messages for everyone.
Other New Features
Aside from that, the social service is now making it possible to check status updates directly from the conversation list. After installing the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.18.17 update, even though this capability was previously only available to a select few lucky beta testers, the deployment is now more widespread. Likewise, users can mute status updates from the status tab so they won’t appear in the chat list anymore if you don’t enjoy seeing them there and you don’t even use status updates.
Thus, these features are now available to additional beta testers once installed with the latest updates. However, if you still don’t have these features, don’t panic; they will gradually be made available to more and more users over the next few weeks.
