Today, the major mobile processor manufacturer Qualcomm has officially announced unveiling a new Qualcomm Innovation Center at Kaohsiung in Southern Taiwan to accelerate the commercialization of 5G applications.
According to the tech giant, the new Qualcomm Innovation Center was established in partnership with the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center to accelerate the commercialization of 5G vertical applications and support the industry and startup ecosystem.
Qualcomm Innovation Center To Accelerate 5G Applications
Qualcomm noted that in response to the Great South, Great Development: Southern Taiwan Development Plan, Qualcomm actively fosters a variety of collaboration in southern Taiwan, introduces 5G innovative technologies in several fields, including smart cities and smart manufacturing, and collaborates with industry partners to support ecosystem development.
The Qualcomm Innovate in Taiwan Challenge (QITCglobal )’s platform and resources have helped the ASE Kaohsiung facility become the first millimeter-waves enterprise private network smart factory in the world while also connecting it to the local startup scene in Kaohsiung and fostering its expansion.
Qualcomm Promoting Smart Technology Industry; Kaohsiung Mayor
Liu Sitai, Vice President of Qualcomm and President of Taiwan, Southeast Asia, New Zealand, and Australia, said Southern Taiwan had demonstrated tremendous intention and effort to build high-tech sectors.
In his words: “I am very happy to set up the “Qualcomm South Taiwan Innovation Center” in Kaohsiung, to cultivate local innovation teams and provide 5G experimental R&D dedicated network fields; and to cooperate with the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center to support the vertical integration of 5G development.”
According to Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Qimai, Qualcomm is doing everything in its power to promote the smart technology industry to ride the wave of global supply chain restructuring and create the groundwork for Taiwan’s development over the next 50 years.
“We estimate that the complete industrial chain of Kaohsiung Semiconductors will take shape within 5 years and will drive the demand for high-level R&D and design talents, said Chen Qimai.
The First Qualcomm Technologies Base in the South
Meanwhile, Qualcomm further stressed that the new Qualcomm South Taiwan Innovation Center is the company’s first outpost in the region. It has installed cutting-edge wireless communication technology and may serve as a hub for new innovation teams and business partners to collaborate, experiment and present.
The lab in the center is outfitted with a full 5G millimeter-wave and sub-6GHz 5G private network, which can meet the needs of the AIoT, O-RAN, compact base stations, and robots. This was made possible with the assistance of Compal Computer. The Kaohsiung Taiwan 5G AIoT Innovation Park is where the center is located.
In the future, it will not only act as a hub for the development and exchange of fresh creative teams, but it will also be situated right next to the Yawan District 5G test and demonstration site, support Qualcomm’s cutting-edge technology and equipment, and speed up the development of southern Taiwan’s industrial chain products.
Promoting Commercialization of 5G Through Partnership
Additionally, on the 21st, Qualcomm Technologies and Kaohsiung Exhibition Center inked an agreement of collaboration to foster the commercialization of 5G novel application services and integrate with the industrial market.
Support for 5G advanced technology speeds up the commercial development of 5G AIoT vertical application services for business and innovation teams and quickly connects the global ecosystem.
The Kaohsiung Exhibition Center will construct a world-class 5G smart venue with complete 5G technological resources, application service verification (POS), and commercial display promotion as part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ “Cultural Technology 5G Innovation Vertical Application Program” (POB).
