Adam Kicinski, CEO of CD Projekt Red, announced at an investor conference that the firm plans to launch the Cyberpunk 2077 Game of the Year Edition in 2023.
The studio reportedly intends the Game of the Year Edition similar to the one it did with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It will include both the original game and all post-launch DLC in addition to all the significant patches the game got to address the numerous problems it had at release.
Adam Kicinski hints at the concept of Cyberpunk 2077 Game Of The Year Edition
The Game of the Year Edition’s actual inclusions are unknown, but it is certain that every available DLC—both free and paid—as well as all game updates will be included.
Adam Kicinski hinted at the concept of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 edition. “It’s the natural order of things,” he said. “It was the same with The Witcher, which after both expansions was eventually released as Game of the Year Edition, and it has remained on the market that way ever since. Here too, the same thing is anticipated.”
Cyberpunk 2077 received heavy criticism for its terrible performance and a long list of issues when it originally came out. It had significant setbacks when it was initially published, but because of CD’s persistent, continuous efforts, it has experienced an evident revival in the past few months. But CD Projekt Red now thinks the right time has come to deliver a Game of the Year edition of Cyberpunk 2077, perhaps for next-generation platforms as well.
After the Phantom Liberty DLC addition and a “major update,” the Cyberpunk 2077 Game of the Year Edition will debut next year. Following this, CD Projekt Red is likely to end support for the game in order to work on a sequel. The next-gen patch for The Witcher 3 and other ongoing projects have been disclosed, and it will be fascinating to see what additional games the studio wants to deliver.
