Earlier this month, WhatsApp revealed that it is working on a new filter group chats feature for Android users. The feature provides users with better control over their conversations, making it easier to manage and prioritize their messages. Today, the Meta-owned social media platform has now announced that it is working on a new sidebar and group chat filter feature for web users.

The upcoming feature is still under development and is said to be similar to the filter group chats feature on Android by allowing WhatsApp Web users to categorize their conversations easily as they will be able to sort their chats based on specific filters, and a new sidebar to offer improved navigation. These features are planned to be released in a future update of WhatsApp Web.

WhatsApp New Sidebar and Group Chat Filter Feature for Web Users

Unlike the Android new group chat filter feature, which aims to provide users with a tool to manage their group conversations better, WhatsApp aims to offer users a better tool to filter their chats based on their category. Although the Android feature is still in development, we have also discovered that WhatsApp is working on bringing the same feature to a future update of WhatsApp Web.

A screenshot shared by Wabetainfo, who broke the news, shows that the interface of the feature is very similar to the one that’s currently under development on WhatsApp for Android. It has three different filters that will allow users to better organize their chats based on unread messages, personal conversations, and group chats. In addition, WhatsApp has plans to bring a new revamped sidebar that’s very similar to the one available on the native WhatsApp for Windows app.

Thus, implementing a feature that enables users to filter their chats just to display personal and group chats offers a better organizational system because doing so enables users to find particular talks easily. In actuality, these filters facilitate effective navigation and make it simpler for users to find and participate in the appropriate conversations.

Rather, we believe that a tabbed sidebar gives users better navigational options because it offers a simple, orderly method to navigate between WhatsApp Web’s many areas. WhatsApp is currently considering the following tabs for inclusion: Chats, Status, Channels, Communities, Archive, and Starred Messages. The group chat filter function and the new sidebar are both being worked on for a future upgrade of WhatsApp Web. Thus, stay connected with TechGenyz for more updates.
