HMD Rewarded: Nokia Has Now Earned One Percent Market Share Globally

Nokia’s business is thriving with an accelerating growth rate, a massive reward for HMD Global, which has been reported to have shipped 21.5 million devices in total, out of which 4.5 million units might have been smartphones. These reports have been received from Counterpoint Research and therefore, are not an official ones. HMD’s exact figures are awaited as of now.

By the fourth quarter of 2017, the production of smartphones and feature phones had been on the rise and had grown considerably. The quarter-on-quarter sales report shows a rise of 32 percent and almost 16.3 million Nokia phones had been delivered by the third quarter of 2017. Counterpoint Research, which relates to smartphones, estimates the following:

Q1: 0.1 million
Q2: 1.4 million
Q3: 2.8 million
Q4: 4.15 million
2017 total: 8.45 million

As HMD Global climbs up the manufacturer’s ranking rung, it will rank seventh in the world for handset providers. In its entirety, this popular Finnish company has secured a market share of one percent. Android-based smartphones are slowly gathering pace and shall soon take over the older Nokia feature phones.

HMD Global’s sale of Nokia smartphone business was clearly ahead in their first sales launch in China. For the launch of the new Nokia 6, their flash sale last year sold all available 100,000 devices in less than a minute. This lucrative niche is here to stay for HMD Global with Nokia.
