Huawei presented the 5G chip at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month. This will allow the mobile devices to access 5G internet speed. Huawei claims that it can hit the download speed up to 2.3 gigabits per second, which is undoubtedly faster than the speeds reached on current 4G networks. The new chipset is called the Huawei Balong 5G01. The company also claims that it is the world’s first commercial chipset that meets all the 5G standards.
A body that governs the regulations of cellular standards globally, the 3GPP, announced as to how a 5G should work. Huawei, it seems, is already thinking about the future with the launch of the new 5G chipset. It is speculated that this next generation of mobile internet connectivity can help driverless power cars.
Later on in Q3 or Q4 of this year, we will launch the 5G smartphone with the 5G smartphone chipset. And our infrastructure, the 5G infrastructure is readily available to commercialize – Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business
Huawei’s CEO further mentioned that they would not license the new Balong 5G01 chipset to their rival smartphone makers. By making the decision to launch a new smartphone with the new chipset, the company holds the full control of the design and performance of the device. With the release of the new chipset, Huawei is taking on Qualcomm which already has its own modem called the X50 and Intel which is the world’s one of the most leading technology company.
