Nokia Unveiled Five New Mobile Phones at MWC 2018

HMD Global, the Finnish company with the license to make devices with the name Nokia has launched five new phones at MWC, currently being held at Barcelona. The phones include three mainstream Android handsets, one budget Android Go phone, and one rebooted version of the classic 8110 Banana Phone, a version that became famous as the Matrix phone.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco is an upgraded version of the flagship launched last year and has a strong stainless steel frame that has rounded glass edges. Its 5.5-inch OLED display has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Powered by Snapdragon 835, the device has 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of internal storage, and a dual-lens 12 MP + 13 MP rear camera. Run by Android Oreo 8.0, the phone has been priced at €749 and goes on sale in April 2018.

Last year’s Nokia 6, while retaining the 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel display and a 16 MP rear camera, has been upgraded to be powered by Snapdragon 630 and run on Android Oreo 8.0. With 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB or 64 GB of storage, the device has been priced at €279 and goes on sale in April.

The Nokia 7, for its part, boasts of a 6-inch, 2160 x 1080 pixel display, stretched to an 18:9 aspect ratio, and a dual-lens 12 MP + 13 MP rear camera with Zeiss optics; with a body made of aluminum, polished to make it resemble ceramic. Powered by Snapdragon 660 CPU inside, Nokia 7 has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The device is priced at €399 and will go on sale in April 2018.

The aforementioned phones are a part of Google’s Android One programme that includes identifying handsets running an untouched, up-to-date version of Android, with speedier updates.

The classic 8110 has been updated to meet the needs of the modern market and includes 4G connectivity. The phone, available in its classic shades of fruity yellow and black, has a cover which slides open and shut. It has been priced at €79 and shall hit the market this May.

A MediaTek MT6737M chipset, 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage, 4.5-inch display with 854 x 480-pixel resolution, and a 5 MP rear camera are the features of the budget phone, Nokia 1, running on Android Oreo, Go Version. The phone has been priced at €85 and shall be available from early April, along with a choice of clip-on covers.
