Oppo, has finally confirmed the official launch date for its new, next-gen foldable flagship, the Oppo Find N5. Featured with a 3D-printed titanium alloy hinge, Snapdragon 8 Elite, and a triple camera setup, the handheld will be launched at an event in Singapore on the 20th of February, 2025. The event is scheduled to begin at 7 pm (4:30 pm IST), with the device being simultaneously debuted to Chinese and global markets.
The brand has also confirmed that the Oppo Watch X2 will also launch during the same event. The pre-order listing has been made available for the past few days on Oppo China’s website as well as JD.com, a retail platform.
Thinnest Foldable in the Market?
The signature distinction of the device is probably its dimensions. A trailer released by Oppo reveals that the brand has titled the device “Slim, yet powerful”. Up until now, the Honor Magic V3 was considered as the thinnest foldable, at 4.35mm when unfolded. Reports suggest that this title will soon be usurped, as the Find N5 is around 4mm thick.
Billy Zhang (@BillyZhangOPPO) President of Overseas Marketing, Sales and Services at Oppo, compared the Find N5 to the iPad Pro (M4) on X(formerly Twitter), exclaiming the slim nature of the device. The trailer also shows off a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, an alert slider, and a cut-down camera bump, along with the device’s color option. The ad showcased a Cosmic Black and a Misty White variant, while a Twilight Purple variant is expected to be a Chinese exclusive.
Oppo Find N5 Specifications
When it comes to the Find N5, we find that the device is packed with some serious specs. A leaked screenshot of the “About” section, courtesy of Gizmochina, reveals many of the device’s key specifications.
The pre-order listing confirms that the device will be available in three memory combinations: a 12GB+256GB, a 16GB+512GB, and a 16GB+1TB variant. Equipped with the latest seven-core variant of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip from Qualcomm, the N5 is expected to run on Android 15, with Oppo’s ColorOS 15 user interface on top. The leak also revealed that the device will have a 5,600 mAh battery, supporting 80W wired, and 50W wireless charging.
The Oppo Find N5 will be sporting a triple camera setup, with a primary camera that is 50MP, along with 50MP and 8MP sensors that work in tandem as a telephoto lens and an ultrawide lens, respectively. It is also expected to feature two 8MP cameras, one on the inner display of the device, while the other can be found on the cover screen. Other characteristics include an 8.12-inch internal foldable screen, an IPX8-rated chassis, and a profile of 9.2mm when folded.
As the days slowly pass, we come closer to the launch of Oppo’s flagship device. The fact that such a slim device can pack such impressive hardware is a testament to how far devices have come, and the direction future phones can take. As foldables have been reintroduced by many companies, we are sure new devices that break the mold will arrive soon, one after another.
