Xiaomi, via its Redmi India official Twitter profile, has made a tweet today about an update on the pricing of the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Mi LED Smart TV 4. The tweet provides a link to the update and a screenshot of the entire content.
According to the update, the 4GB+64GB variant of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro will be priced at Rs. 14,999 starting May 1, 2018, that’s tomorrow. The original price was Rs. 13,999. The handset will remain available with the changed price tag on Mi.com, Mi Home stores, Flipkart, and the offline stores.
All pre-orders already placed on Mi.com will have the original price tag. The substantial Rs. 1,000 increment is to get the production of the handset to one million while quenching the need for manufacturing capacity.
The company says they are to import “a significant amount of PCBAs” (printed circuit board assembly) to surpass the 100%-mark by the third quarter of 2018. The recent changes in tax structure for PCBA imports and the depreciation of the Indian currency by 5% since January have led to the expense for Xiaomi, as the update reads.
This further affects the Mi LED Smart TV 4 55” which has an original price tag of Rs. 39,999. Starting tomorrow, it will be available in Rs. 44,999 across the online stores. Xiaomi hopes to satisfy growing demands by the increased supply.
