Samsung MWC Shanghai 2018 has introduced its new technology ISOCELL Plus for offering more accurate and clearer mobile photography in challenging light environments.
The technology is designed to enable CMOS image sensors to capture more light and majorly increase light sensitivity and color fidelity. The requirements of the image sensors were sufficed by introducing the predecessor ISOCELL in 2013, and the upgraded technology takes it to a new level of optimizing pixel isolation.
Samsung’s new technology can further offer higher color fidelity and can ascend 15% of light sensitivity. It is an ideal solution to be used in cameras with over 20 MP, as it allows the image sensors to equip 0.8-micrometer and smaller pixels without losing performance level.
This development is a remarkable milestone for us as it marks the first commercialization of our new material. Through continuous cooperation with Samsung, we anticipate to bring more meaningful innovation to mobile cameras. – Naoto Yanagihara, corporate VP for Fujifilm
Ben K. Hur, VP of System LSI marketing, Samsung talked about more possibilities than just managing smaller pixels: “The ISOCELL Plus will not only enable the development of ultra-high-resolution sensors with incredibly small pixel dimensions but also bring performance advancements for sensors with larger pixel designs.”
