Nintendo has announced the cessation of video streaming on Wii devices starting from January 2019, which entails that channels like Netflix shall no longer work on Wii.
This confirmation is a result of a note posted on Netflix’s website and the reports of multiple Reddit users claiming to have received emails to inform them of the same. With Nintendo Switch getting a YouTube app this week, it seems like the 12-year old console is ready to pass on the torch.
Users report that the Netflix mail reads: “We hope you’ll soon enjoy an even better Netflix experience with additional features on a supported device. Please visit netflix.com/wii for our device list.” The mail, for its part, is being interpreted as a hint of the fact that Netflix is all set to make its way into Nintendo Switch.
