Swiggy is all set to expand its delivery services to include other products like meat, medicine, and vegetables from Kirana stores or supermarkets. It is also piloting its program in Gurugram. The pilot program already has 3,500 stores onboard and comes swiftly after a massive $1 billion fund was raised by Naspers.
Swiggy is now preparing to give fierce competition to Dunzo, backed by Google, Amazon India, Walmart-backed Flipkart, and Alibaba-backed BigBasket. Swiggy’s current partnerships include those with over 200 stores, including florists and grocery shops. Its Gurugram partners include big names like HealthKart, Licious, and The Moms Co., which have formed a part of the initial set of stores to beta test Swiggy Stores.
Today’s announcement takes Swiggy to categories beyond food, where we hope to deliver the same level of delightful experiences to consumers for their everyday needs. It is the first milestone in Swiggy’s vision to elevate the quality of life for the urban consumer by offering unparalleled convenience. – Sriharsha Majety, CEO, Swiggy
Swiggy’s current fleet of on-demand delivery services includes 1.25 lakh partners, which are helping the Bangaluru-based delivery service reach the homes of Indian consumers. These partners look forward to receiving additional payment for deliveries made via Swiggy Stores.
