Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) to launch two light defense satellites from its new Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) in July or August.
As more satellites are being launched into orbit, there is a greater compulsion to monitor space situational awareness, thus making it much harder for nations to find the perfect place to send their satellites into space. The Defense Satellites 2019 will discuss the importance of space situational awareness (SSA) along with the complications that can arise with space debris with more small satellites being launched into space.
We are planning to release two defense satellites of each 120 kilograms from our new SSV rockets in this July or August. We want to accelerate the construction of the SSLV. We expect that two to three SSLV rockets will be required every month. Besides, we also want to increase the production of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) – K Sivan, ISRO chairman
In the first flight, SSLV will carry a total of 500 kilograms of load. With 120 kg of two defense satellites, adapters, and other equipment will weigh about three hundred kilograms. The total weight of the rocket is 110 tons.
