Why building email subscribers important?
So you want to build your email list? But before you start doing this, you need to know “what is an email list?” An email list consists of email addresses of users who have signed up on your website to get daily, weekly or monthly email updates or important announcements of your product or services.
Since some countries have strong privacy rules, your email list empowers you since users sign up with their own consent. One of the major advancements is that as users subscribe to your website that indicates they are interested in your product and services and you can stay in touch with your existing and potential customers regularly.
In our website TechGenyz, we’ve noticed that the email newsletter performs better than any other medium because it is direct and personal. Not only that building an email subscriber can increase more ROI for your business – the faster your website grows, the more business opportunities create.
But, if you are a novice in the WordPress platform with no email subscribers plugin or just using an opt-in form that comes with your email provider isn’t enough. If your website is receiving less than a 2% opt-in rate — that means, it’s time to take corrective measures for increasing more subscribers.
You have to implement not only opt-in forms on your website Home page, rather target users on the page level, embedded form in-between content, trigger forms based on user behavior, scroll box, top or button bar to boost conversions and leverage other cutting-edge tactics. In this article, I’ve listed five best WordPress Plugins you can use which will should give your list building a significant boost.

HubSpot All-In-One Marketing – Forms, Popups, Live Chat
HubSpot All-In-One Marketing – Forms, Popups, Live Chat is one my personal favorite free WordPress marketing plugin to boost email subscribers list, build forms and add a live chat widget on the website. It comes from the world-leading marketing automation platform provider HubSpot. Though there are not many themes and customization options in this plugin but the most important part is you can track every single move of the users on your website once they sign-up the form.
Knowing your website visitor is a very important part of running your business. When your potential customers first visit your website you want to know more information about them like – what pages they’ve visited when they return, and what social networks they’re on. Through HubSpot All-In-One Marketing – Forms, Popups, Live Chat you can get the details and better understand your web site visitors.
Did I mention the most important part of the plugin? You can get in-depth analytics and contact insights when a lead submits a form, the HubSpot plugin will automatically enrich their contact profile with public information from across the web such as job title and social profiles.
How does it benefit you?
Once you install this plugin in your WordPress site, HubSpot All-In-One Marketing – Forms, Popups, Live Chat will track each anonymous visitor to your site with a cookie. The built-in feature of the plugin also automatically identifies all existing forms integrated into your website and collects submission. Not only that you will also receive an email while a new email is submitted with the behavior of that user on your website. Also, without any API integration, you can connect the Ninja Forms, Contact Forms 7 and more.
Sum
I’ve used Sumo during my blogger days and liked this platform to build email lists. I especially like the most about ListBuilder by SumoMe, which is its dashboard – you can manage multiple services from a single dashboard. This plugin provides three customizable forms type – a hello bar, a popup, and a scroll bar.
List Builder allows users to create a fancy lightbox pop up to build email subscriptions that can be integrated with all major multiple email platforms. Not only that, you can manage your social sharing, Welcome Mat from the plugin itself. Not to mention that I just love Welcome Mat, a full-screen call to action that shows when visitors land on your site. You can also target your visitor’s Scroll Box or Smart Bar that can float on the top or bottom of your website.
Some features:
- Free and Easy integration with any WordPress theme
- Integration with MailChimp, Aweber, Constant Contact, Campaign Monitor, GetResponse, HubSpot, Zapier and more

WP Subscribe
Not long back while I was doing some research on the Email Subscribers plugin, I found WP Subscribe. This is a lightweight opt-in form plugin for WordPress and comes for free with an easy-to-use design.
If you are looking for a plugin that very simple and fulfills your requirement, you can select WP Subscribe. Once you install and activate the plugin, you can control where your form will be shown through your widgets page.
Since this is the free version there are certain limitations customizing your form and fields – alternatively, you can upgrade to the pro version for $27. One interesting part of this plugin you can push your subscribed emails directly to the Feedburner through the form which other plugins lack.
But this should not be forgotten that it has drawbacks too – the biggest one is it only supports MailChimp, Aweber email marketing provider to record your submissions.
Some Features:
- Customizable text and mobile responsive
- Can be added to multiple widget areas
- Supports MailChimp, AWeber, and Feedburner
- Color customization (Pro only)
- Shortcode placement (Pro only)
Scroll Triggered Boxes
Scroll Triggered Boxes is an alternate solution for the website owners who feel pop-ups are too annoying for the users. Here comes this WordPress email subscribers plugin – Scroll Triggered Boxes only appear when a visitor of your website has scrolled down on a page.
ou have the complete control of how scroll boxes will appear on a certain page of your website. The built-in feature in the plugin will let you set when the form will appear – way down the page, or halfway down the page. It’s a best practice to set your form to appear after 70- 80 % page is scrolled down.
This is one of the light-weight plugins that can be easily set up in your WordPress dashboard. I used this plugin, and it is very easy-to-use, and you can connect them with MailChimp, GetResponse or AWeber and has the option to integrate with other email service providers that give you HTML code to create your opt-in boxes.
Some features:
- Option to create boxes containing shortcodes, links, custom HTML
- Control over pop-up message after scrolling down based on a percentage point or a certain element
- The customizable option using a few simple colors and dimension controls.
- Control whether boxes should show on small screens
Before you select an email subscriber plugin, you must specify your needs and targets. Once you find out what you exactly what you want to accomplish it will be easy for you to select the right plugin for your website.
The mailing list I listed above comes with free of cost and some can be upgradable to get more features and customization options. With the proper planning, you can build a strong email subscriber list, and you will be able to bring repeat visitors to your website.
So what’s next? It’s time for you to get started. Just select a WordPress email subscriber plugin and start building your email list.
