Amazon has announced that it’s launching a new version of the Amazon Fire 7 and Amazon Fire 7 Kids Edition at very affordable prices.
The entry-level tablet, the Fire 7 packs in twice as much storage as the old model, with 16GB or 32GB built-in (along with a microSD card slot), it comes with a faster 1.3GHz quad-core chipset, hands-free access to Alexa and has an upgraded 2MP front-facing camera.
There’s a 7-inch screen, a 2MP rear camera, and several Amazon-exclusive features, such as X-Ray and Family Library. Interestingly, the battery life is listed as up to 7 hours, which is one hour less than the old model. It will come in Black, Twilight Blue, Plum, and Sage shades.
Amazon is also boosting and boasting the Fire 7 Kids Edition. It will get the improved processing speed and 16GB of storage, all wrapped up in Amazon’s kid-proof case with an adjustable stand and Amazon’s two-year, worry-free guarantee. It won’t be getting the new color options, but a new purple variant will be joining the blue and pink options.

As for availability, the Amazon Fire 7 will be priced at $50 for both 16GB and 32GB variants. The Amazon Fire 7 Kids Edition is more pricey, with prices starting from $100. Both the versions are currently available for pre-order and will ship on June 6.
