At the Xbox E3 2019 press conference, Microsoft announced onstage the release of Gears 5. Microsoft also announced a collector’s edition, which will include a replica Jack drone from the game that flies.
From the cinematic trailer, we learn that at E3 2018, Gears 5 is returning to where it all began, featuring a new female character who will join the one and only Marcus Fenix. Gears 5 will come with a new mode called “Escape,” in which a team of players must plant and infiltrate a bomb inside a hive before escaping.
The video game giant also announced its upcoming new Xbox, called Project Scarlett, at its Xbox press conference. The new device, as announced, will be 4x more powerful than its Xbox One X, promising faster loading times and more intense and massive visuals with 8K graphics, support for 120fps, and an SSD when it is released in 2020.
The company also said it’d offer its upcoming Gears 5 space war game on September 10, 2019, for the Xbox One as Xbox’s premier first-party title this holiday and continues the tradition of numbered Gears games releasing during the fall season. To kick it off, studio head Rod Fergusson will join IGN on our E3 Live Show immediately following the Xbox briefing.
