Smartphone users using the Email app from Samsung received a notification from Google in April this year that the app would no longer be safe. The message from Google was the message from the Samsung Email app comes from a suspicious publisher who has access to your Gmail data. Many users were worried. It soon turned out to be a bug that would have to do with a changing Google security protocol.
Samsung is working on a solution, it was reported by the Korean manufacturer. Although it has remained remarkably quiet about this afterward, it seems that Samsung has developed an entirely new app, called Email Plus.
Samsung Email Plus a new smartphone app
On July 1, 2019, Samsung Electronics applied for the ‘Email Plus’ trademark with the UK IPO (Intellectual Property Office). The application was submitted by Fieldfisher LLP from London, this law firm is more often submitting trademarks for Samsung. The same company applied for the name Samsung DepthVision Lens the day before.
The trademark application is classified as Class 9, with the description; ‘computer software for smartphones and tablets to manage email accounts’.
It seems likely that Samsung Email Plus will be presented next month at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event which is scheduled for August 7, 2019. The Korean manufacturer announced this news in a press release yesterday. The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series will be unveiled during this event.
What Email Plus has to offer as an extra compared to the regular Email app is still unknown. Whether the new app will replace the existing Email app is also unknown. We will have to be patient for another month, Samsung will undoubtedly reveal all the details.
