The application hints that Huawei is in an attempt to create a cross-platform operating system that is expected to be compatible with both desktop and mobile. Rumors suggest that the new OS in smartphones will be headed to consumers as early as this fall, where already 1 million test units are running.

Conceived as HongMeng OS, the company is still deciding if it can be developed as a smartphone operating system in the future. Recently it has been brought into the limelight due to the increasing tension between the U.S. and Huawei. However, the ban has been relaxed to some extent; Huawei still continues to work for the OS.
