Samsung Galaxy J7 Specs
The Samsung Galaxy J7 was launched in June 2015 and packs an all decent specification. At the time of its release, the Galaxy J7 came with the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop on top of Samsung’s own custom skin. On its last major software upgrade, Samsung made Android 7.1.1 Nougat available for the handset.
Hardware-wise, the phone features a 5.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display with an aging 16:9 aspect ratio. The phone was made available in two variants, one has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 while the other houses Samsung Exynos 7580 SoC. However, storage is a bit limiting. The weird 1.5GB RAM paired with 16GB ROM (upgradeable up to 256GB via microSD card) hardly makes it a perfect smartphone for 2019. However, nothing a good software can utilize.
On the imaging side, the Samsung Galaxy J7 sports a single 13MP rear-facing camera with a bright f/1.9 lens. Nothing too fancy. It records 1080p video at 30fps though. On the front, it has a decent 5MP selfie camera, a standard selfie resolution for entry-level smartphones in 2015. Also, both the front and rear-facing cameras have an LED flash to go with.
Preparing your Samsung Galaxy J7
Now that we’ve done a quick rundown of the specification, it’s now time to start the rooting process. But first, we will need to do some quick preparations.
Make sure to back up your files first before doing the rooting process. This is to make sure you still have all your important data just in case you mess up halfway through the process. It is also mandatory to charge your battery to at least 50% of its current capacity to make sure your phone never dies while doing the process. A failure like a battery dying during the process could damage your phone.
It is also advisable to disable Fast Boot. You can do this by going to Settings, then Battery. Also, don’t forget to allow the installation of apps from unknown sources. Do this by going to Settings, look for Security, then toggle Unknown Sources on. Lastly, make sure to have a steady internet connection.

How to Root Samsung Galaxy J7 using PC
Now that we’re done with the preparations, it is now time to root your Samsung Galaxy J7. In this tutorial, we will be using two software, One Click Root and Dr.fone. You are free to choose which one you will be using.
Download it here: One Click Root, dr. fone
- Now that you’ve downloaded and installed the software, you may now connect your Samsung Galaxy J7 to a computer using a compatible USB cable. Launch the software.
If you are using dr.fone, just look for the “Root” option on the list of dr.fone toolkit. If you are on Android 4.2.2 and above, there should be a pop-up window on your phone’s display. Just go ahead and press the “OK” button. This will allow the USB debugging, which would then allow dr.fone to automatically read and connect your phone to the computer to start the root process.
On the One Click Root, it is almost the same process. Connect your phone on the computer using a compatible cable, and allow USB debugging option via the Developers Option. If your developer option is not yet enabled, you can turn this on by going to Settings, About device, and tap on Build number 6-7 times. After giving the permission, you can now launch the One Click Root, and wait for the rooting process to finish. That’s basically for the One Click Root.
For dr.fone, continue the process below.
- Allow the software to detect your smartphone. This could sometimes take a while. Once detected, your phone is now ready for the root process. Just click the “Root Now” option. A pop-up on your device may appear asking if you want to root your handset. Confirm the process, and wait until it is finished. This may take a while.
How to root Samsung Galaxy J7 without PC
Now, we know that not everyone has access to a PC. So, we will also be teaching you how to root your Samsung Galaxy J7 without the help of a PC. In this process, we will be using Framaroot. You can download the APK via link down below. It will be a fairly simple process.
Download it here: Framaroot
- After downloading, locate the Framaroot APK on your File Manager and install it. Make sure to allow any permission if it is asking for any.
- Once installed, just go ahead and launch the Framaroot app. There will be an option to select an action to execute after root; choose “Install Superuser”.
- Once you selected the “Install Superuser”, it is time to select an exploit to root your handset. Choose “Aragon”. After this, wait again for a few minutes until a pop-up appears confirming a successful process.
Now that you have rooted your Samsung Galaxy J7, it is time to unlock its full capability. You can now install custom ROMs like CyanogenMod, which has many features compared to the stick Samsung skin. You can also install the Xposed framework if your phone runs on Android 5 Lollipop to Android 8 Oreo. The Xposed framework will allow you to install system files and add features on your Samsung Galaxy J7 without installing any custom ROMs.
