Acer posted on Twitter about its upcoming gamebook, the Shadow Knight 5. Acer announced that its new gamebook is equipped with AMD Ryzen 7 processor and GTX 1650 Ti graphics card.

AMD announced the full lineup of the Ryzen 4000 series on March 16, 2020. The Ryzen 4000 outperforms Intel’s laptop CPU offerings on multi-threaded performance or graphics performance. On the other side, the GTX 1650 Ti has not been announced by Nvidia yet. However, it is expected that it will not fall short of performance, like the GTX 1650, and will be equipped with 4GB GDDR6 memory.

So far, only Lenovo has taken the stage to talk about using the Ryzen 4000 system designs, and even though nothing can be said with confidence about the companies who will use the said system designs, it is clear that Lenovo would not be the only one.

After Lenovo Acer has come to the forefront announcing that its upcoming gamebook will make use of the Ryzen 4000. We can take an educated guess, that Asus’s Choice series, Lenovo’s R7000 series, Dell G5 SE is the first 7nm “3A” gamebook equipped with R7 + RX 5600M.

AMD particularly talked about the fact that both Microsoft and Google are on board, and their partnership will fix poor integration problems.

Coming back to the Acer gamebook, given Ryzen’s history, the battery life could become a serious issue for the gamebook. However, AMD had improved both OEM and OS vendor-integration, and the direct hardware efficiency in its own designs.

Entry and exit latency from the lower-power C-states is drastically improved, allowing the CPU to spend more time in lower-power idle modes, with less impact on user-perceived task latency.
