Adobe Systems Inc is planning to launch a full version of Adobe Photoshop app for iPad so as to make its product compatible across multiple devices and to increase sales of course. The new app will be unveiled at this year’s annual MAX creative conference in October. The new app is expected to hit the market sometime in 2019.
In 2012, Adobe had shifted all of its apps to the cloud and launched a new subscription-based business model which, as a result, sent the stock way up above 700%. Now, Adobe is looking to expand its services to smaller screens. The chief product officer of Creative Cloud Scott Belsky confirmed that the company was working on something of this sort but refused to specify the timing of their launches.
My aspiration is to get these on the market as soon as possible. There’s a lot required to take a product as sophisticated and powerful as Photoshop and make that work on a modern device like the iPad. We need to bring our products into this cloud-first collaborative era. – Scott Belsky, chief product officer of Creative Cloud
The new versions of the Adobe Photoshop iPad app will allow the users to continue their editing on different devices, and the full version of the program will be available on iPad. The app would not be an entire replacement for Photoshop which has been around since 1990 but the new app will be offered alongside it. Adobe’s main target is to satisfy the professionals who have been relying on their photo editing tools for quite some time and of course, to capture casual users.
The new tools will not be mere replicas of the existing Photoshop version but will have mobile-friendly interfaces. Adobe recently previewed Project Rush, a light video editing app that works on iPads and computers. Adobe had previously launched Lightroom CC for iPads and iPhones. Most mobile devices are not robust enough to run Photoshop, which features decades of coding overlays and has bolstered its capabilities. But the newer versions of the iPad Pro are powerful enough to support Adobe’s apps.
