Adobe Sneaks has become its leading innovation wing over the years. It has developed various apps and important AI features too. In the company blog, Eric Matisoff has revealed that its Sneaks division has been working on a project which utilizes AI in the eCommerce domain.
Utilizing the rising online activity during lockdown
This new Adobe sneak project is called “Project Clothes Swap”. The project aims to bring a new experience to the customers while shopping for apparel online. Given the stringent lockdown measures across many countries, online activity has seen a surge. Moreover, apparel brands have been aware for a while that they need to grow and expand beyond the physical store.
This necessity has fueled Adobe Sneaks to work on an AI which deals with online shopping. Matisoff states the following about the new project Adobe’s innovation wing has been working on:
We are showcasing “Project Clothes Swap” in Adobe Experience Manager, to show how AI can take different outfits and move them around on different models online.

How does this AI help?
As stated above the AI does two things:
First, it picks the apparel of your choice and sort of fits them on different models. This helps you in gauging the look of the chosen item. Second, it shows a single model wearing different apparel.
Thus, for the customer, it gives more options to choose from. The diversity in models increasing the chances of clothing items being sold. Adobe has observed this inclination in customers from its market research. To add to the shopping experience further, the customer can upload their picture to the website and then let the AI sort them out in different pieces of clothing.
This nearly mimics the realtime shopping experience. Also, for the models, this can reduce the number of photoshoots. The artificial fitting of clothes on models or a possible customer is taken care of by “SieveNet“. It is Adobe’s patented method which removes distortions. The AI can also understand and factor in the variations in composition and texture giving a premium look.
Adobe claims that its most recent AI can produce very accurate results.
