Almost all of the online delivery services had to stop their services owing to the nationwide lockdown and the threat of spreading of the coronavirus. But keeping the interest and well being of the people in mind, the online retailers were delivering the essential commodities to its users.
Starting today, that is from May 4th, Amazon and Flipkart have resumed the delivery of smartphones with PAN India.
The Ministry of Home Affairs lifted some of the restrictions and bans in areas declared to be green zones. The eCommerce platforms can now take orders for products such as smartphones, TVs, and laptops and can deliver them to areas deemed green and orange. As for the Red zones, only essential items will be delivered for now. The government has also allowed standalone retail stores to open in all zones in urban areas, which means some smartphone retail shops will be allowed to open starting today.
The eCommerce platforms will now show the products available and their price for smartphones and other gadgets. This will mainly work through the use of pin codes. If the pin code entered falls into either a green or an orange zone, Amazon and Flipkart will take the order, and deliver the products; however, these products may take a longer time to arrive at the user’s doorsteps for obvious reasons. Smartphone brands such as Vivo and Realme have also started to take orders online for select pin codes.
Even amidst a global pandemic, the eCommerce sites have reported that there has been a surge in searching non-essential items, and the fact that deliveries of those items are going to start from today. This means that the sites will get overwhelmed by the bulk of orders.
The delivery service will not be smooth as of now since a lot of the warehouses fall inside red zones, and to acquire products from those warehouses and deliver those would certainly be a herculean task.
