Tolkien’s Middle-earth is one of the richest fictional worlds in the history, and it gives our team of experienced MMO developers from the same studio developing New World — tremendous opportunity to play and create – Christoph Hartmann, VP, Amazon Game Studios
The new game is all set in Middle-earth during the original Lord of the Rings trilogy that will explore lands, people and creatures never been seen before by fans of Tolkien. It might sound quite similar upcoming Lord of the Rings TV series; well the show and the game are being developed separately and are completely unrelated projects as per Amazon.
According to a spokesperson, the game has been developed in partnership with Leyou that owns Warframe. However, Amazon’s Lord of the Rings online has there since 2007, and this won’t be the first MMO based on Tolkien’s world as it includes games like New World, The Grand Tour Game and Crucible.
The release date of MMO is yet to be disclosed.
