The Seattle-headquartered company is reportedly planning to launch eight new Alexa-enabled devices this year. The devices consist of, among others, a microwave oven, a receiver, an amplifier, a subwoofer, and an in-car gadget. All of the devices will be powered by Alexa, meaning an in-built voice assistant.

People familiar with the matter said that Amazon is expected to reveal some of these devices at an event later this month. Companies like GE and Sonos have released an Alexa-powered voice assistant microwave which shows the company’s foray into the world of smart home appliances and also its competition against Google Assistant, which is compatible with a host of smart home devices, including smart home security systems, thermostats, and smart home locks.

Alexa was initially considered as an experiment by Amazon but now it is one of the most popular voice assistants who are expected to be worth $30 billion by 2024.

By introducing higher-end audio gears, the company may be looking to appeal to tech geek enthusiasts. The amplifier taken as the example can be used as the central audio panel to control multiple speakers set up across the home. The microwave can make Alexa a dominant part of the kitchen.

Having its own home appliances, Amazon is showing signs of accelerating partnerships with home builders. And by partnering with smart home installation companies, Amazon can make its Amazon Alexa-powered devices more readily available in new homes.

Until now, cooking dishes in a microwave oven was complicated with the buttons; that is about to change, all thanks to Amazon!
