AMD has taken advantage of the E3 2019 to present its three new graphics cards belonging to the new AMD Radeon RX 5700 series. He also talked extensively about two of the new technologies that incorporate these new models, which will help improve our gaming experience with them. But, perhaps what the most users were waiting for, is the presentation of the AMD processor that was an open secret: the new AMD Ryzen 9 3950X, with 16 cores and 32 parallel process threads.

The conference given by Lisa Su in the current edition of E3 2019 has been more focused on presenting the first three models in charge of starting to form the new family of AMD Radeon RX 5700 graphics cards. These new models are of greater less:

  • AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT 50th Anniversary Edition
  • AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
  • AMD Radeon RX 5700

The AMD Radeon RX 5700 50th Anniversary Edition is the surprise of these new graphics. Basically, and for now, the new AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card would take place occupied by the AMD Radeon RX 590 as the top model of this new range, while the Radeon RX 5700 would take the place of the current RX 580. It will be interesting to see the comparison that can be made between the RX 580 with the new RX 5700 since both graphs share the same number of shaders inside its core.

Of course, the sales prices of the new graphics cards will be $449 for the Radeon RX 5700 XT and $379 for the AMD Radeon RX 5700. These prices are quite higher than those that had the models that came to replace at the time of their release.

Lisa Su, as is customary in her, has left two surprises for the end of the conference. On the one hand, there would be the new AMD Radeon RX 5700 50th Anniversary Edition graphics card. But, on the other hand, there was a secret presentation of the new AMD Ryzen 9 3950X processor that surprised all.

The new Ryzen 9 3950X processor will have 16 cores and 32 threads inside. It’s base frequency will be 3.5 GHz, while its Boost frequency will rise to 4.7 GHz. That is to say, it is the processor that most frequency will be able to reach the Ryzen range as a whole. And all this, maintaining the same TDP of 105 W.

Of course, the price of the new processor will be at the height of the exclusivity that will give to own it, since it will have a price of 749 dollars. Such a high price means that AMD is having problems with the wafers to get CCXs in which all the cores operate at these frequencies.

Which means that the company must be doing a very thorough binning to get perfect chiplets for this new model. It will arrive with 16 cores and 32 threads at a base frequency of 3.5 GHz and a Boost of 4.7 GHz. It will have a surprising 72 MB of total cache (adding both L1, L2 and L3) and a TDP of 105 watts.
