Android 7.1.1 Update Brings Security Patch to Google Pixel and Nexus Device

This month, Google posted the new security update in Android 7.1.1 which is meant to extremely heighten the shield of security vulnerabilities for supporting devices. This patch brings the requisite bug fixes along with nearly 50 security updates.

The updated security patch is currently released for two Pixel models and Nexus devices, including Nexus 6P, 5X, 9, and Player. Pixel owners need to look for technology to Build NMF26U or NMF26V depending on the variant (“V” is for Verizon), while Nexus and Pixel C users should focus on N4F26J or N4F26I.

The Pixel and Nexus devices that support this patch will receive an OTA with the update that patches a lot of security holes. The complete security update marked for January 5th, 2017 contains patches for 10 vulnerabilities marked critical, 28 marked as high severity, and 12 marked as moderate severity in total.

The users need to update the latest version of Android where possible and accept these updates to their devices. Updates are also available in factory images and OTA updates, which can be easily side-loaded using Android Debug Bridge.
