Many Android users are experiencing what can only be described as an arbitrary crash of Android apps for unknown reasons. However, Google is on this problem and is doing its best to fix this problem as soon as possible.
In the meantime, a number of discussion forums have opened up on a number of official websites of companies such as Samsung and OnePlus, where the users have reported this issue individually. Still, after a closer inspection, it turned out to be a problem not exclusive to those users only. A lot of Android users across the globe are experiencing the same sudden crash of Android apps. A Samsung user reported the Gmail app crash, whereas another OnePlus user reported the crash of the Amazon app.
The underlying issue seems to be an issue stemming from a system component called Android System WebView, which lets the various Android apps display the web content. However, this seems to be a problem right now, which is causing the apps to crash.
“We are aware of an issue with WebView causing some apps on Android to crash for some users,” Google said in a statement. The tech giant further mentioned, “We are currently working to fully validate the scope and a fix is in progress.”
Although Google is yet to come up with a solution for this sudden crash, Samsung’s official US support Twitter account has come up with a quick fix in the meantime. The tweet requests the users who are experiencing the issue to remove the latest update to the WebView. Some users reported that this remedy seems to be working for them.
On the other hand, Google has acknowledged the issue with Gmail on Android on the Google Workspace status page. The company has urged the users to use the desktop interface until they can come up with a solution.
