Apple augmented reality project glasses project is something that has been in news for quite some time. A newly patented application has showcased that the same approach will be present in both smart glasses and Smartphone screens. The patent also shows that both the devices will be used in tandem.
This patent was published today by augmented reality developer Metaio, which was acquired by Apple in May this year. According to the report, Apple will be creating a head-mounted display that will consist of a screen and camera. The head-mounted display is going to be a see-through HMD or head-mounted display. When it comes to usability, Apple understands that it is going to be difficult to operate the HMD with finger-like we use the touch screen. To make sure that usability gets easy, the camera will capture the motion of the hands to provide you with the perfect way to detect moments. The camera will provide you to detect the image position of the fingers and provide the perfect way to use it.
It was in March when we first heard about Apple’s glasses. It was reported that Apple is eager to launch AR in the phones before launching the smart glasses. According to a leaked document, Apple has already got the testing prototypes.
The Recent patent reveals AR is being tested on both the Smartphone only and with a hybrid approach with glasses and phone. The main idea of the new patent is to let users interact with the images which are seen in glasses.
It should be noted that Apple patents all kinds of tech, most of which will never make it to the market. But considering the excitement of Apple regarding AR, Smart Glasses is something that might really be something that Apple works upon.
