Apple Attempted to Bring Metalens to iPod Nano

The iPhone maker hasn’t yet specified any chances of being the pioneer of augmented reality “Apple Glasses” as likely as not by 2026 or 2027. The company is now deeming to decide on a new metalens technology as it has been in pursuit of AR glass; the information flew from the Apple well-known tipster Ming-Chi Kuo.

Metalens are not classified as one of the most touted lenses in the industry, but in avowed terms, the Metalens are flatter than other running lenses, and that’s been using metasurfaces to be in the light. The lens would take a step ahead on a flat surface and minimum thickness when placed in optical applications.

But, what wonders the fans of Apple products is the timeline that was knurled out by Kuo earlier today; in his official tweet, he mentioned that Apple had already been considered setting off with (metalens/wafer-level lens) during the iPod nano era, Apple had a forethought of placing a wafer-level lens camera to the iPod nano.

Taiwanese image sensor firm VisEra worked with Apple to develop the wafer lens. However, the project was later forsaken due to unbridled technical limitations. At those times, without technology, Apple had harnessed few available support to make a pulchritudinous image seimimage-sensing. According to Apple analyst Kuo, Metalans would lose its identity and enter mass production by 2024.

It will be used in Face ID systems for iPad Pro, followed by iPhone in 2025. If all the blueprint goes on its way, the Metalens will eventually be under the hood of Apple AR glass by 2026 or 2027. In the wake of Metalens technology, Kuo prophesies that Metalens cover will likely oust “lowest-end” plastic camera lenses between 2028 and 2030.
