Apple has won the final victory of a legal battle against Samsung, but not the war. The Supreme Court of the United States dismissed on Monday, November 6, an appeal of a case ruled in 2014.

This is the trial related to the function of sliding to unlock and quick links, among others. The final verdict found that Samsung has infringed both patents and will have to pay Apple 120 million dollars in damages.

Samsung must pay 120 million to Apple for damages. In this case, the initial ruling of 2014 was revoked in 2016 and then reinstated again. Later, Samsung appealed to the Supreme Court, where the case came to an end today.

Our argument was supported by many who believed that the Court should hear the case to restore fair standards that promote innovation and avoid abuse of the patent system,

-a Samsung representative said in a statement.

However, this is not the end of the epic legal war between both technologies that has lasted a decade. Yet there remains the greatest demand, which is, that Samsung had to pay Apple a reward of 1,049 million dollars in 2012. Since then, the figure has been reduced to 400 million and the court will take the case next May to decide how damages should be calculated.
