It is reported from foreign media today that the American mobile giant has discontinued the Apple iPhone Lightning Dock, priced at 418 yuan, with only a small number of areas still on sale.

Since the origin of the iPhone, Apple has provided its own charging base, which has been modified multiple times to support new iPhone models since 2007. However, the iPhone Lightning Dock appears to have been discontinued by Apple, as it is no longer available in most regions.

There were no relevant results on searching for this product on Apple’s US website. The iPhone Lightning Dock product page was still shown in Google’s results, but the message: “the product you’re seeking for is no longer available on apple.com” appeared. The same is for Apple’s Canadian and Mexican websites.

The iPhone Lightning Dock product page is still available on Apple’s website in various European and Asian countries, but it’s sold out in all colors. According to an archived website, the product was last spotted accessible for online purchase on November 10, 2021, indicating that Apple has not continued to sell it since then.

The white version of the iPhone lightning base is priced at 291 yuan, and the gold version is priced at 418 yuan, according to Apple’s official website in China. However, the display is sold out and does not permit purchasing.

To match your iPhone, it’s available in a range of metallic finishes. Any iPhone with a Lightning connector can be charged and synced with the iPhone Lightning Dock. iPhone sits upright in the dock when charging or syncing, making it ideal for use on a desk or workbench. Even if one’s iPhone comes with an Apple-designed case, it will still fit comfortably in one’s hand. Users don’t have to remove their iPhone from the dock to unlock it or utilize Touch ID.

Before the iPhone 6s, the previous version of the iPhone Lightning Dock was released in 2015. The 2015 version, unlike earlier versions, is universal, ensuring compatibility with all Lightning iPhones. Despite the fact that Apple sells the accessory for $49, it was included in the package with the first-generation iPhone as a free gift.

Regardless of the situation, the rationale for Apple’s discontinuation of the iPhone Lightning Dock is still unknown, but it’s widely assumed that the firm intends to push the MagSafe charger even further, especially in light of speculations that the company plans to manufacture portless iPhones.
