Apple took almost four years to come out with a successor to the first-generation iPhone SE, but the next one in line could arrive sooner than that. A recent tweet from Ross Young claims that Apple is planning to launch the third-generation iPhone SE in spring 2022, not in 2021 as predicted. The goal with the iPhone SE is a direct competition with Android smartphones in the same price range.

According to Apple, the market users of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 is still growing, and iPhone SE could very well fit within that price range, so the users would not have to think about switching to Android smartphones, instead, they could invest in an iPhone SE.

According to the chart shared by Young with the tweet, the next iPhone SE will come with a 6.1-inch LCD screen and dual cameras. However, it will lack the Face ID and will come with the fingerprint sensor instead, just like the iPhone 6 / 7. If the Touch ID pad is retained in its usual place, operating the iPhone with one hand may turn out to be a harder task since the circular Home button is likely to affect the screen-to-body ratio of the iPhone.

According to Ross’s tweet, the next iPhone SE will retain the cameras of the iPhone 11 which Apple will soon discontinue. It could be that Apple will bring the iPhone 11 back, but this time in an iPhone SE avatar, just like the first and second-generation iPhone SE that was based on the iPhone 5S and iPhone 8, respectively. The entry-level device will support sub-6 GHz 5G only.

Ross also shares information about the upcoming iPhone 13 series. The iPhone 13 series will consist of four devices; however, its Pro versions will be more expensive, and all the devices will get 120Hz ProMotion displays.

The iPhone 13 will come in two display sizes- 5.42-inches, and 6.06-inches. The iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max will feature 6.06-inches and 6.67-inches of the display screen, respectively, and both of these iPhones will come equipped with triple cameras on its back.

It is worth noting that Ross Young revealed that the iPhone SE 3 is provided by Sharp and JDI. It seems that the next-generation iPhone SE may still use the LCD screen, while the iPhone 13 series will come with OLED screens.
