Apple Music Beta for Android to Roll Out Today

Since the acquisition of Primephonic, a classical music streaming service by the American tech giant, the corporation has been planning to integrate Primephonic playlists and exclusive audio content into Apple Music.

Today, Apple Music’s latest beta version is now available for Android, featuring a significant boost to home screen widgets and potentially the name of Apple’s independent classical genre app based on Primephonic.

Apple Music has had two Android widgets for a long time. They’ve had their bulky border padding removed in version 3.9, allowing them to take up more screen/widget space.

When scaled, the “Apple Music Player” widget is broader and taller, whereas “Apple Music Recently Played” offers more options. The grid that displays previous tracks is now available in 32 and 31 sizes, with the top half getting bigger as well.

The other major change is that both widget backgrounds are now related to the album artwork for the current song. It reverts to the previous red/pink tint when nothing is playing.

These widgets are currently in beta and have a variety of visual flaws, such as sharp corners that vary based on the setup. Before Apple Music 3.9 is released to the stable channel in the coming weeks, probably in March with iOS 15.4 — this issue should be rectified.

Apple amassed Primephonic in August of last year to improve its streaming service’s classical music capabilities. After a few months, the specialized app was shut down, and existing members were directed to Apple Music until the new app was ready in early 2022.

The Apple Music beta includes a string that reveals the term “Apple Classical” and the impending option to open suitable music straight in the optimized service as the deadline approaches.

It appears to be the name of the future Android app, but that could change before it is released. This announcement is identical to the one made in 2020 for “Apple One.”
