Apple had already informed its users last Thursday regarding an updated version of Final Cut Pro X scheduled to release today, 9th April 2018. And Apple has delivered on its promise this morning, bringing two major new features, the ProRes RAW file format and closed captioning for Final Cut Pro X.
The FCPX Version 10.4.1 is here to thrill its users with an assorted array of latest features. As far as closed captioning is concerned, FCPS is allowing its users now to import caption files into an FCPX project to automatically create time-synced, connected captions in the timeline; view captions in the viewer; create captions in multiple languages and formats in the same timeline; use the Inspector to adjust text color, onscreen location, and timing; attach captions to audio and video files; shared captioned videos directly to YouTube and Vimeo, and perform a number of other functions.
As for the ProRes RAW file format, FCPX users can now import, edit, and grade using pristine RAW image data from the camera sensor. The latest version allows for smooth playback and real-time editing on laptop and desktop Mac computers. The greatly enhanced encoding helps the ProRes RAW files to be compressed in size, thus allowing users to fit more footage on camera cards and storage drives. And Pro Res RAW’s ability to preserve more of the original image data, it makes for an ideal format for archiving. Lastly, users can now work natively with ProRes RAW or ProRes RAW HQ files created by ATOMOS recorders and DJI Inspire 2 drone.
Those who already own Final Cut Pro X can download version 10.4.1 from the Mac App Store for free. As for the rest can purchase the well-regarded NLE for $299 with no reoccurring subscription fees.
