A report has revealed today that more than 40% of Qualcomm’s revenue comes from Apple and Samsung. Strategy Analytics, who released the report, said the world’s largest chip maker recorded an increase of 43% in year-on-year earnings, with Apple and Samsung contributing a larger share of its revenue.
Since the majority of Qualcomm’s revenue comes from selling chips that go into mobile phones, and Apple and Samsung produce the most expensive phones in the world, accounting for 85% of all shipments. Thus, any deal with those two vendors could drive huge sales and revenue for the chip maker.
The report estimates that Qualcomm’s revenue from Apple in the fiscal year 2021 would be US$7.7 billion, or roughly RMB 55.132 billion, and that it will increase to US$9.2 billion, or roughly RMB 65.872 billion, in the fiscal year 2022.
Similarly, Qualcomm’s income from Samsung nearly doubled to $9.2 billion, or 65.872 billion yuan, in the fiscal year 2022. According to Strategy Analytics, Qualcomm’s biggest customer is now Samsung.
Additionally, according to the financial report, Qualcomm’s fiscal year 2022 sales will be US$44.200 billion, or roughly RMB 316.472 billion, up 32% from the previous year. Its net profit will be US$12.936 billion, or roughly RMB 92.622 billion, up 43% from the previous year.
Consequently, by the first quarter of fiscal 2023, the world’s largest chip maker is expected to reach US$9.2-10 billion in revenue, with Apple and Samsung being on the frontline of her major sources.
